In the United States, dispensaries are the only places where recreational marijuana can be legally purchased. Dispensaries are today’s cozy shops that sell flowers, sweets, extracts, prerolls, seeds, and everything else imaginable, from THC topical patches to weed cartridges for your Juul pod gadget.

Dispensaries are often government-regulated businesses that sell items that have been approved by the Food and Drug Administration, and they may be found in 14 states (as for medical marijuana, 35 states have legalized it to date). The amount of marijuana you can possess is determined by state law. Only adults (aged 21 and up) are permitted to purchase recreational marijuana (as for medical cannabis, this age can be lowered to 18-20 with a medical cannabis card).

What Are the Two Dispensary Types?

Marijuana dispensaries are divided into two categories: recreational and medical. The biggest distinction, as the name implies, is the type of cannabis sold in these dispensaries. But that isn’t the only distinction.

Dispensaries of Medicine

A medical prescription is required to buy weed online from a medical dispensary. You must also bring your identification. The customer does not have to be an adult (above the age of 21), as medical marijuana can be used to treat youngsters in several states. Despite the lack of national guidelines, dealers are trained on how to advise patients (since when it comes to medicinal marijuana, we’re talking about patients, not customers).

It implies you can ask questions of the dealers at these dispensaries, and they will react professionally. They may usually advise customers on delivery methods, strains, dosage, and different plants, among other things. The personnel at the medical dispensary can assist you if you need information or advice.

Dispensaries for recreational use

To begin with, recreational dispensaries sell marijuana for recreational use. Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) is a molecule that leads to feelings of euphoria and pleasure, therefore marijuana with a high THC content can make you feel high. Another significant distinction is that you do not need your medical card or prescription to purchase cannabis at a recreational dispensary; the customer only needs to bring his ID card or driver’s license. The customer must, of course, be at least 21 years old.

What Are the Two Types of Dispensary Licensing Options?

There are 17 different types of marijuana company licenses available, with some designed specifically for indoor growers and others for manufacturers, testing labs, and distributors. The owners of dispensaries must apply for a Type 10 license, which comes in two varieties: Type 10 and Type 10A.

The first, Type 10, is a general license for establishments that sell medical cannabis and cannabis-related items and devices. Dispensaries that provide medical marijuana delivery services may also be granted this type of license.

The second, Type 10A, is a license given to dispensaries with no more than three dispensary locations (production centers, retail locations).

A Type 12 license (microbusiness) is also available, which is frequently used by cannabis retailers. The Type 12 license is required if the merchant cultivates, manufactures, and sells/distributes marijuana in less than 10,000 square feet (929 square meters). Type 9 licenses are quite similar to Type 10/10A licenses, with one notable exception: they are often designated for enterprises that solely perform sales via delivery.

To get a license, the dispensary must put in place certain security measures, such as limited-access areas (available only to employees), and all items must be kept in secured rooms (safes/vaults) to prevent loss or theft. In the event of theft, loss, criminal activity, or any other security problem, all licensed dispensaries must contact the police and the licensor.

In the United States, there are dispensaries.

What is the appearance of a marijuana dispensary? Every dispensary in the United States is required to meet certain development standards. Of course, regulations and standards vary from state to state, but there are always some common criteria and permission requirements. As a result, according to the regulations, a dispensary must be housed in a permanent structure rather than a trailer or motor vehicle.

Dispensaries must be at least 500/1000/1500 feet away from schools, libraries, churches, and daycare centers. It varies by state; for example, in California, a dispensary can be positioned 501 feet away from a residential zone, whereas in Arizona, the distance must be at least 1,500 feet. As a result, a dispensary is always housed in a permanent structure and cannot be found between two dwellings, for example. Of course, no two dispensaries are same, but they all have a lot in common. They have a pharmacy-like appearance.

The head stores of the 1960s and 1970s resembled caves. Posters, smoke, music, and a “freedom vibe” – we think it’s quite clear what kind of shops they were. Everything has changed now, and you don’t have to feel like you’re in the 1960s to purchase cannabis. Dispensaries are no longer like head shops; practically every dispensary in the United States now resembles a pharmacy, complete with a delivery system, professional employees on hand to offer assistance, and a security guard at the door.

Other Countries’ Dispensaries

Right now, the United States of America is the world’s biggest weed market. However, it is not the only country that has legalized marijuana, and as a result, it is not the only country where you can locate a dispensary/cannabis shop, even if it isn’t called that.

The cannabis infrastructure in Canada is quite similar to that in the United States. Canadians have a lot of dispensaries and cafés, and it’s generally referred to as one of the best destinations in the world for marijuana enthusiasts. Thus, in this country, you can possess and carry up to 30 grams (!) of cannabis, while the legal smoking age is only 19 years old (18 in Quebec). They have shops that are approved by the government and offer everything from pre-rolls to edibles.

There are even clubs and cafes in Canada where you can smoke a blunt without getting arrested — but be aware that these cafés usually have very severe rules (such as paying a membership fee/providing ID/etc.).

The Netherlands is a country in Europe. This country is home to the world’s oldest coffee shops, where people can buy and consume cannabis and cannabis-related items including edibles. Anyone over the age of 18 can purchase cannabis from a dispensary in Amsterdam. Some of the establishments are similar to pharmacies in the United States, while others are much more informal.

There are dozens of dispensaries and cannabis delivery businesses in Mexico. In this country, you can’t smoke on the street, but you can legally carry up to 5 grams of cannabis. Cannabis and associated goods are sold in a few businesses (primarily in the country’s capital), such as Canamo Shop.

Another country that has decriminalized marijuana is Jamaica. It’s not difficult to find dispensaries in almost all of the main cities; these shops tend to be more laid-back than dispensaries in the United States, but the largest distinction is that they usually feature smoking lounges where tourists can sit back, relax, and enjoy a joint, a bowl, or an edible. Another intriguing aspect of this country’s dispensaries is that there is always a medical practitioner available to issue you a prescription, even if you do not have a medical certificate from the United States.

When deciding on a store, there are a few things to keep in mind.

Not all dispensary shops are created equal. Here, we’ll discuss the three most crucial factors to consider while selecting a marijuana shop.

There are numerous marijuana strains available, and not all of them will be suitable for your needs. The more options a business has, the better – since if the dispensary doesn’t have a huge range of strains, it may be difficult for you to locate one that you’ll enjoy. Before you go to a shop, look over the dispensary menus – they’re usually available online, and that’s one thing that can save you time. Similarly, some dispensaries have hundreds of marijuana-related products and accessories, while others don’t. You’ll almost certainly need to purchase accessories in addition to marijuana, so look for a dispensary that sells as many accessory products as feasible.
